I am a big fan of stripes but then who isn’t? Since the last almost a decade stripes have made a comeback in a way that the trend seems to have caught on from primary clothing to even the accessories be it the stripes espadrilles, stripes clutches/ bags, stripes scarves/ bandanas or even stripes bracelets and hair-clips. Add to that the monochrome combination of black & white and you have a classic, evergreen, statement piece. In today’s look, even at the risk of looking too zebra-ish, I have gone a little out of my comfort zone and styled my Shoppers Stop Zebra pants with a matching zebra striped clutch which I bought a few months ago from one of the local stores in Mcleodganj. A white or a black top would have been the obvious choice but the red top adds to the fun element breaking the monotony of the double stripes. Infact, the whole outfit looks put together almost effortlessly just by addition of a bold, solid colored top. Other bright colors that will work beautifully in place of red could be a bottle green, golden mustard, royal blue or a crimson burgundy.
Though stripes work almost like staple print in current fashion trends, it is very important to keep in mind the style of the stripes. For example, vertical pin stripes tend to make you look taller while the horizontal, broad stripes have just the reverse effect.Since both my pants and the clutch have vertical stripes, they are adding height and power to the whole look.
