Velvet is the new Suede

I am extremely happy to announce that I am the proud winner of a beautiful velvet grey cut-shoulder top as part of the giveaway contest organised by Scooptub, a fashion & travel influencer connecting bloggers from more than 50 countries who blog on fashion, travel and lifestyle. My association with Scooptub started a few months ago and there has been no looking back since then. It is heartening to see the amount of effort and hard work that the Scooptub team puts into getting the bloggers together and building up a like-minded community for the purposes of interaction, creating mutual awareness, increasing knowledge base and shaping the trends in fashion, travel & lifestyle industry.

And now for the look! Velvet and suede are both timeless, classic fabrics with great texture and rich vibe to them. But there was a time about two years ago when every item you could possibly desire (that had previously been reserved for simple leather) suddenly became available in suede.Bags, jackets, shoes, dresses — you name it, there was nothing the luxe-looking fabric didn’t come in. And while suede still reigns supreme in all these categories, it’s recently been joined by an equally luxe counterpart known as velvet. Now we have all heard of velvet, the fabric that was at one time only affordable to the rich and found only in the most plush of homes. But today velvet is trending in the market like never before. Today I have styled my trendy velvet ENL top with the edgy black leather pants (jeggings actually) to arrive at a slightly grunge transitional look. I have always enjoyed mixing various fabrics & textures to arrive at something new. Therefore for today’s look, instead of opting for the regular cotton pants/ pencil skirt/ culottes, I went in for a slightly more defined statement piece, my leather pants. My antique silver necklace added the casual hipster vibe to the outfit. This is a perfect statement look for a casual dinner or night out with friends without the pressure of feeling overdressed.
